Atlanta every day is an opening day

Arts, Antiques and History in Rabun County

Take U.S. Hwy 441 north to Tallulah Falls, perched along the fabulous 1,000 deep Tallulah Gorge. The breathtaking landscapes inspire many artists locally and internationally.

Stop at Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts, just across 441 from the Tallulah Falls State Park. The center features artists from all over Georgia and exhibits change every six weeks. Most days visitors can observe works in progress as local and regional artists work on site.

Drive north on US 441 to Clayton to catch the Georgia Wine Highway.

The Award Winning Tiger Mountain Winery is just a short trip from Clayton on old 441. Local artisans have built many of the furnishings, including a unique stainless steel "corkscrew" table. Images of the namesake Tiger Mountain appear on banners and wine labels and are the work of the daughter of the winery's co-owners. Here the art of the brush combine with the art of the vineyard to enrich the spirit and the palate.

After wine tasting, drive back into Clayton for lunch at one of Clayton's fine eateries. Local produce abounds on all the menus.

After lunch stroll town Main Street where you will find galleries featuring local artists, fine folk art, shopping, and local history. Local shops feature antiques from around the world, vintage photos of the area, and specialty shops and historic hardware stores.

Stroll by Jower's Appliances for a vision of yester year. People from all over the country send their antique kitchen appliances to be updated and made new again.

Enjoy a beautiful scenic drive on Old U.S. Hwy 441 Clayton to Lake Burton. Potters, artists, artisans, abound and their galleries and shops are along 76 W and Hwy 197 South. Timpson Creek Gallery has an international reputation for hand crafted furniture. Burton Gallery features the work of over 350 local artists Enjoy great country cooking at Joni's or al Fresco dining at Pazzo's

After a long day, relax and recharge with a good rest at the North 40 Lodge. You'll feel rested and refreshed and ready for a leisurely trip home.
